Luke 10:27
He answered: " 'Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind'; and, 'Love your neighbor as yourself.'"
My W.o.G. posts are clearly being inspired by Christian songs these days. When we were driving back from Michigan on Monday, I drove the late shift and ended up playing an old playlist on my iPod that i hadn't listened to in a very long time. Two of my favorite hymns popped up and i think i hit "replay" 15 times on them.
I LOVE hymns. I'm a classic kinda gal, what can I say? My parents raised me right (ha! just teasing!)
Anyway, this is an old hymn from 1800s, redone by Chris Tomlin. I think it pretty much sums up everything that I could say about Luke 10:27--by loving God so completely with your whole being you are, essentially, saying "Take my life and let it be..."

Lyrics:
Take my life and let it be consecrated Lord, to thee.
Take my moments and my days, let them flow in ceaseless praise.
Take my hands and let them move at the impulse of thy love.
Take my feet and let them be swift and beautiful for thee.
Take my voice and let me sing always, only for my king.
Take my lips and let them be filled with messages from thee.
Take my silver and my gold not a might would I withhold.
Take my intellect and use every power as you choose.::Chorus::
Here am I, all of me.
Take my life, it's all for thee.
Take my will and make it Thine it shall be no longer mine.
Take my heart it is thine own; it shall be thy royal throne.
Take my love, my Lord I pour at your feet its treasure store
Take myself and I will be ever, only all for thee,
Take myself and I will be ever, only all for thee. Here am I, All of me.
Take my life, It's all for thee.
PS My friend from Boston led the women in our church through a summer Bible study. One evening she played this song for us and had us meditate on individual phrases. My favorite, the one that convicts me and makes me fall to my knees is "Take my heart it is thine own; it shall be thy royal throne." if i sing i need to mean it...know what i mean? To house Jesus in my heart as a ROYAL throne...oh my He and i have a lot of clean up to do!
1 people think...:
I really love this one as well!!! I know what you mean about the hymns!
By the way... thank you so much for your encouraging words! I really needed them.
