I remember reading through my One Year Bible during a particularly hard time in my life when I was struck by this passage from Habakuk. In a time when there is economic insecurity, much need, and earnest longing, i cannot help but come back to the encouraging verses written in the Old Testament:
Habakuk 3:17-19
Habakuk 3:17-19
17 Though the fig tree does not bud
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
and there are no grapes on the vines,
though the olive crop fails
and the fields produce no food,
though there are no sheep in the pen
and no cattle in the stalls,
18 yet I will rejoice in the LORD,
I will be joyful in God my Savior.
19 The Sovereign LORD is my strength;
he makes my feet like the feet of a deer,
he enables me to go on the heights.

Thanks Allie, I needed that. It's hard for me not to be totally bummed out knowing all I do all day is sit at work and have all the time in the world to read stay/work at home mom's blogs, knowing someone else is enjoying my son. I get so jealous of them, but I know that God is my portion. Thanks for the encouragement.
Amazing..that is the exact same scripture our pastor read just before prayer meeting last night.
This was so wonderful to read this morning! Thank you! I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend with your lovely family : ).
