This week's theme at I ❤ Faces is Nostalgia. Angie and Amy came up with great ideas for how to capture a photo that makes you nostalgic but the only thing I can think of these days are memories of my grandpa...
Our family is huge and everyone played an important role during the days following my grandpa's death and preceding his memorial and funeral. My job was to make a DVD of his life in pictures. I divided it into four chapters: "biography" (including pictures from age 1-81), "husband", "father", and "grandpa".
Without a doubt, we had the most pictures in the "grandpa" chapter. Of course, one reason could be because of the advent of digital cameras but I think it is mainly because he was such a wonderful, hands-on grandpa, that there were plenty of opportunities to take pictures of him playing with his grandkids. And what great pictures we have of him! The old ones are my favorite because of their retro coloring and faded tones--especially this one...
This is a circa-1986 picture of me*, the twin, & my grandpa making cookies.
Ahh! Talk about nostalgia!
I miss that man, my grandpa and my friend.
I highly encourage you to check out other Nostalgic entries at I ❤ Faces! You never know--maybe something you see will make you nostalgic, too!
*Since I'm obviously in the picture, I'm not entering it officially in the contest!

What a sweet picture my friend! It certainly looks like he was a fun, loving, doting grandfather :-)
What a great tribute!
I still have a difficult time believing that all of my grandparents are gone. :( This is such a lovely tribute to someone who was obviously wonderful to you. Beautiful!
(Please be sure to enter this into the Mr. Linky. You might not be able to win, but it's sure to touch everyone's heartstrings anyway!)

so beautiful - the words, the photo
How touching!! What a beautiful photo to share!
What a gorgeous photo and such a sweet memory to have.
Great photo for a lovely memory! That's great you have a big chapter of photos of him! Very sweet!
Wonderful memories of your grandpa. I was 3 and 10 when my grandpas died so I never really knew them. My own dad died when my oldest was 10. You are fortunate to have known yours. Keep hold of those sweet photos. They are priceless. :)
Do you think you'll ever post the DVD of photos that you made for us to see?
wow. this pic speaks volumes! what fabulous memories.
What a wonderful memory! You know, this probably should have been one of the non-compete weeks, because for so many of us, our nostalgic pics are just like yours. Memories of grandparents (and in my case, my dad), who are gone, and whom we miss. I'm glad you have the pics, and the memories..and even happier that you have HOPE.. of seeing him again someday!
Thanks fr stopping by and leaving a comment. I read in your other blog about your Grandad and I am so sorry to here that sad news. I lost my Grampa a few years back now and I would have loved to include him in this weeks theme as well. Blessings my friend.
How wonderful to have all those memories. I love that he was so hands-on and involved with his grandkids.
I never knew my grandparents but when I read and hear stories like this, it makes me think I may have missed out on something very special. He sounds like a wonderful man...and what a wonderful tribute you have created for him. :)
BTW, I am loving the colors and tones of circa 1986 too.
Such a sweet memory. I love that you have a picture of it too.
What a sweet photo & memory!
